On December 12, 2017, Mildred Donald passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years at Shepherd’s Care Kensington with her daughters, Marion and Carol, by her side.
Mildred was born in Hanna, Alberta, and was raised on a homestead near Hinse Creek in Northern Alberta. She moved to Edmonton as a young woman and attended Alberta College. Shortly after, she met the love of her life, Andrew Donald. Even though she maintained she couldn’t understand his marriage proposal because of his Scottish accent, she said yes at the right moment and they shared 44 happy years together before Andy passed in 1997. Mildred was a wonderful mother who gave her family unconditional love and unwavering support. Mildred’s favourite pastime was playing cards, and she was always ready for a good spirited game of crib.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Marion (Dave) and Carol (Vic); grandchildren, Logan (Stephanie), Luke (Becca), Jenna (Ryan) and Robert (Jaclyn); her brother Lloyd (Susan) of Florida; as well as numerous family and many dear friends.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Andy; and brothers, Ralph, Gordon, Russell, Walter Dwight and Kenneth; and her sister, Ella.
The family would like to thank the staff at Shepherd’s Care for their kind care, and Dr. Dante Scanga for the years of excellent care he gave Mildred.
A private interment will take place.
