She was born in Ethelbert, Manitoba. She married dad in 1944 and they moved to Chicago where mom gave birth to Aleta and Linda. They returned to Gimli, Manitoba where they bought a small acreage which also had a small country store that they operated for a few years. Mom also worked at Betel Nursing Home in Gimli, Saunders Aircraft as a “Rosie the Riveter” and one of her favourite jobs as serving staff at Lakeside Camp in Gimli where she was loved by the many handicapped children and adults who attended the camp.
Mom loved to travel and accompanied Aleta and Alan on a wonderful trip through the U.S.A. where they encountered many adventures, one being the opportunity of singing and dancing on stage at the Grand Old Opry and seeing the beauty of another part of North America.
Mom was also known for her wonderful cooking and the decorating of the yearly Christmas tree that brought people from around the area to admire.
Special thanks to Irene, Christine and Glen for their help and endless support with mom over the past few years. Also thank you for the loving care mom received at the ICU at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg. We couldn’t have asked for better Doctors, Nurses and Care Givers. Also thank you to the staff at Gilbart Funeral Home for their care and guidance.
