Mary “Molly” Catherine Sperman
October 25, 1928 – February 27, 2017
Molly passed away on February 27th, 2017 at the age of 88 in Calgary, Alberta. She is survived by her husband Johnny Sperman and son Paul Sperman; brothers, Francis Patterson of Sidney, British Columbia and Brian Patterson of Runcorn, England; as well as sister, Winifred Patterson of Exeter, England. She is predeceased by her brother Ian Patterson of Edmonton, Alberta.
Molly was born on October 25th, 1928 in Dundee, Scotland and grew up in Runcorn, England. She trained and became a midwife and registered nurse. Molly immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s and worked as a nurse in Toronto, as well as in the North West Territories.
Molly settled in Calgary and met and married Johnny Sperman. The two spent many a night dancing with friends at the Italian club. They went on to have one son named Paul, whom they loved very much.
Molly worked as a registered nurse throughout Calgary both in the operating room and in long term care.
After retiring from nursing, Molly spent the remainder of her life enjoying time with family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all, as will her strength, love, compassion, sense of humor and her smile. She was an amazing woman.
A Memorial Service for Molly will be held at the Calgary Italian Club (416 1st Ave NE) on March 27th at 12:00 pm with tributes starting at 1:00 pm followed by refreshments.
