Marven Douglas MacLean
Marven MacLean, 87, of Moncton, went to be with his Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ, at the Dr. Georges-L. University Hospital Centre
on Monday, April 17, 2017. Born in Black River Bridge, NB, he was the
son of the late Rankin and Bertha (MacDonald) MacLean.
Marven was retired from CNR Accounting with 36
years’ service. He was an Elder at St. Andrew’s
Presbyterian Church and founding member and Elder at Mount Zion
Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Moncton, where he served his
church in various capacities over the years. Marven was a Gideon for
many years, sang with the Barbershoppers and was an avid Toronto Blue
Jays fan. His love for the Lord was evident in his service both to his
family and extended to anyone that he could help.
Marven will be sadly missed by his sons, Allan MacLean of
Halifax, NS, Gary MacLean (Kim) of Truro, NS and Scott MacLean (Holly)
of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Spencer, Caleb, Kaitlin and Cole;
sister, Vera Dickens of Hamilton, ON; stepchildren, Douglas Blaikie
(Holly) of Fredericton, Heather Lutes (John) of Lower Coverdale, David
Blaikie (Heather Gay) and Robert Blaikie, both of Hammonds Plains, NS;
step grandchildren, Mark, Brad, Krista, Jeremy, Jonathan, Alyson,
Christopher, Jeffrey, Laura and Kathryn; many nieces, nephews and
extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was
predeceased by his first wife, Margaret (Knowles) MacLean (January
1984) and second wife, Maureen (Blaikie) MacLean (April 2010); infant
son, Gordon; brothers, Harold and John MacLean; sister, Dorothy
Prosser.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
A Service to celebrate and honour Marven’s life will be held
at Mount Zion Presbyterian Church (ARP) (155 Charles Lutes
Road) on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Dr. Winston
Parks officiating. Reception following the service in the Church Hall.
Interment will be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marven’s memory to
Mount Zion Presbyterian Church (ARP), The Gideons or the Kidney
Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Online
