Obituary for Marlyn Bartley
On Thursday, December 29, 2016, Marlyn Glen Bartley, age 83 years, formerly of Souris and Elkhorn, Manitoba, passed away at the Valleyview Care Centre. Marlyn was born in Carievale, Saskatchewan and grew up in Elkhorn, Manitoba. He started his working career in the retail store industry by working with his father and brothers in the Bartley Store in Elkhorn. He continued his work in Souris by operating the Solo Grocery Store, and later on worked for the iconic Lindenberg Seeds in Brandon, and was one of the last employees to work at the Eaton’s Department Store in Brandon. Marlyn was predeceased by his wife Mary Bartley (nee Hildebrand). He is survived by their three children, Gwen (James) Foord, Gina (Jerome) Bartley-Ricketts and Gerald (Tonya) Bartley; seven brilliant grandchildren – Jonathon (Amanda) Foord, Samara (Steffan) Fields, Stephan (Sherry) Foord, Tristan Ricketts, Dustin Ricketts, Jared Bartley and Riley Bartley; and five incredible great-grandchildren – Selah, Elise, Liam, Ben and Zoe. The family is deeply grateful and thankful to the staff at the Valleyview Care Centre for the care they have provided for Marlyn over 13 years. The Funeral Service will take place in the Spring, with announcement of service details to follow at that time.
