Obituary for Marion Balloway (Jones (Wentzell))
Is now safely in the arms of Jesus on November 19th, 2017 after a heroic battle with Parkinson’s. Marion was born on July 19,1935 to the late Joseph and Marion (St. Pierre) Jones in Pembroke Ontario and moved to Sudbury when she was fourteen years old. She married Clyde Wentzell in April 1953, and in 1960 they owned and successfully operated Chuck’s Fish House on Lorne Street. She then worked eighteen plus years in the Dietary department of the Memorial Hospital.
She married Alexander Balloway in July of 1983 and after retiring, moved to Bay Estates on Manitoulin Island. Many years later she moved to Val Therese with her husband Al due to health. A woman of independence, Marion faced life’s challenges with courage and determination and instilled these values in her children. She was a fun loving, kind spirited women who loved to laugh, sing and dance. She especially loved attending the Jones reunions in Pembroke Ontario where she would watch and listen to her family sing and play their instruments. She also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
Marion was a woman of faith and the heart of her family. They were the focus of her life and will miss her deeply. Devoted wife to Alexander Balloway and loving mother and mentor to her children Deborah (Phil) Fleury, Linda (Ken) Hould, Tony (Stephanie) Wentzell, Richard M (Elizabeth) Wentzell and Grant Balloway.
Cherished Grandmother of Richard A (Tammy) Wentzell, Melanie (Barry) Bennett, Angela (Chris) Burke, Christopher (Victoria) Wentzell, Cory (Bailey) Wentzell, Jerica Wentzell (Glen) Jacob (Stephanie) Wentzell and Samantha Wentzell (Kyle), Jason Hould ( Billie-Jo), Courtney Snyder, Jeff Snyder, Halli Snyder, Amanda Balloway (Rock), Alexander (Ashley) Balloway and Mathew Balloway. Also survived by her 15 great grandchildren.
Dear sister of Delores (Vince predeceased) Dawe, Roy (Laura) Jones, Audrey (Edward) Vaillancourt, Gary Jones, Jerry (Francis) Jones and Patricia McBride (Gerry Lagrandeur predeceased). Predeceased by Robert Jones, Reggie Jones, Pauline Jones, Edward Jones, Billy Jones and Joseph Jr. Jones.
Dear sister-in-law of Olive (Con predeceased) Chrunik, Edna (Bill predeceased) Kolisnyk. Predeceased by Jerry ((Elizabeth) Balloway, Raymond Balloway and John Balloway.
Aunt to many nieces and nephews, she made a difference in the lives of many.
The family would like to thank the staff at Extendicare York (2006-2011) and the Elizabeth Centre (2011-2017) for all the love and care that was given to Marion for so many years. The family would also like to thank Charlene Richer for her helping with the care of mom over the years, your help was always welcomed and appreciated.
When the thunderclaps her children will look up and say “Mom’s up there dancing”, (clogging or step dancing). Doing what she loved to do. She never stopped dreaming of being able to walk again. She will be missed as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Food Bank, Soup Kitchen or SPCA would be greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Marion’s life will be held on Friday, November 24th, 2017 in the R. J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury at 1pm. Friends may call after 11:30 am Friday.
