Margretha (nee Gibson) Smith, peacefully, was gathered in the arms of our blessed Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Hospital Long Term Care in Cold Lake, Alberta.
Wife of the late William (Bill) Smith d. 1976, and the late Robert Malouin d. 1956, Predeceased by her loving parents: Garfield and Pearl (Ellis) Gibson; her sisters and brothers: Clinton (Fern), Irene (Harry) Wannamaker, Flossie (Sam) Tripp, Arthur (Velma), Audrey (Pat) Wannamaker, Cyril (Evelyn), Bessie (Rudy) St. Amour, Elgin (Violet), Vivian (Hubert) Morrison.
Survived by her dear sister: Lola Shaw (late Boyd Shaw); her children: Brenda (Michael) Robertson, Gary (Ida) Smith, Janet (Joseph) Sakowich, Gail (Victor) Ayers Martin.
Remembered by her nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Rob) Wilson, Rosalyn (Zo) Kaderbhai, Melissa (late Darren) Murphy, Russell (Jenna), Rebecca, Brianne, Sherri, Tyler (Rebecca), Cristy and thirteen great-grandchildren: Maisie, Rowan, Sophia, Maryam, Sumaya, Inara, Avery, Alexa, Quinn, Jesse, Brody, Taya, Brayden and Kayden.
Remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Margretha had happily celebrated her 90th Birthday on November 5, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Funeral Mass to be held Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, Cold Lake North. Pallbearers: Michael Robertson, Joseph Sakowich, Victor Martin, Tyler Ayers, Gary Smith, Russell Smith. Cremation to follow. Final resting place will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. Gratitude is expressed to the staff of Long Term Care for their gentle caring support. As March 8th was International Women’s Day, donations will be gratefully accepted to the Dr. Margaret Savage Crisis Centre, Box 419, Cold Lake, AB T9M 1P1, or A Woman’s Shelter in your local community.
