It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Elsie, on October 25, 2017 at Millwoods Shepherds Care.
Elsie was born in Lethbridge on September 1, 1921 to Harry and Florence Matthews. She later moved to Calgary where she married the love of her life, Edgar. Together they raised 3 children. Mom and Dad enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping until his passing in 1985. She then moved to Edmonton. She enjoyed her visits with her grandchildren and watching them grow into wonderful adults and was thrilled to have 6 great grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children John Clipsham (High River), Don and Lindsay Clipsham (Fairview), Debra and Don Heichert (Edmonton).
Grandchildren, Duane & Erin (Michalla and Cooper) Clipsham, Scott and Karen (Colin and Emily) Clipsham, Sherra and Kerry (Corbin and Matthew) Froese. Jason Heichert, Geoffrey and Brianna Heichert; sisters-in-law Marlene Matthews and Joan Matthews (both of Calgary).
Elsie was predeceased by her dear daughter-in-law, Janie (2012), a sister Kathleen, brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Helen Matthews, Sid and Barbara Matthews (all of Lethbridge), Roy Matthews and Stan Matthews (both of Calgary).
We would like to thank the Second floor staff at Millwoods Shepherd’s Care for their compassionate and loving care that they provided over the last 3 years but especially during the last two months of Mom’s life.
A family graveside service will take place in Calgary. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made to the Edmonton Stollery Children’s Hospital or a charity of ones choice.
