1950-2017
Margaret Jean Colpitts of Riverview passed away at The
Moncton Hospital on Friday, January 27, 2017 surrounded by her family
after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born in Moncton, she
was the daughter of the late James and Blanche (Doucet) Woods.
Margaret Jean was a retired school teacher having taught grade 1
French immersion most of her career at Claude D. Taylor School. She
was a life-long member of Beta Sigma Phi and most recently a member of
the New Master Chapter. In addition, she also co-founded the Moncton
Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She also enjoyed volunteering for
various sports events within the community.
A loving mother and doting grandmother, she will be dearly
missed by her husband of 43 years, Ken; children Katherine Colpitts
Beers, Heather Colpitts (Brady Curlew), and Kenneth Colpitts (Emily
Colpitts); son-in-law Andrew Beers; grandchildren Olivia Colpitts,
Anderson Beers, and Madeleine Colpitts. She is also survived by her
two brothers Donald Woods (Marcelle) and Patrick Woods (Angela);
sister-in-law Barbara Colpitts and brother-in-law Brad Colpitts as
well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and
cousins.
Margaret Jean and her family would like to thank: Dr. Samad
and his team, including Sandy Ratcliffe and Ashley McPherson; the
compassionate nurses and staff of the Oncology Clinic and 4200 of The
Moncton Hospital as well as Dr. Mukherjee and Dr. Hiltz. Special
thanks to Sue Snowdon, Carmella LeBlanc, and Edith Rivest for their
devoted friendship, as well as the French Connection and retired
teachers and staff of Claude D. Taylor for their generosity and
support. Thanks as well to Tanya Thibeau, Sue Crawford and the extra
mural staff, and Inez Eagles from Integrity Home Health
Services.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd.,
Riverview (869-2007) on Sunday from 6 – 8pm with a memorial service by
the Beta Sigma Phi New Masters Chapter at 5:45pm. A funeral mass will
take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church (5 Fatima Dr.,
Riverview) on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11:00am with Father Charles
Broderick officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret
Jean’s memory can be made to The Friends of The Moncton
Hospital Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences
