Manuel will also be missed by his brothers Fernando and Mario, and their families. Manuel was born in Carapelhos, Mira, Portugal on September 29, 1934. He lived in Carapelhos until his 22nd year, when he immigrated to Canada soon joined by his wife, Idalina. He never left the roots that connected him to Portugal and his pinhais. Upon arriving in Canada, he developed a love for wood, tools and wine. He was a hands-on, energetic hard worker, and spent 30 years in construction. Although he was committed to his work, he always made time for his family, leaving them with many fond memories including his stories and sense of humour. Religion was a large part of his life, where he practiced his faith at St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish. Visitation at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E (near James) on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers Friday at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish (475 Mary St. N) on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Burlington.
