Obituary of Mabel Sutherland-Smith
Peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, at John Joseph Place in Owen Sound, on Tuesday morning, December 26th, 2017. Mabel Victoria Sutherland-Smith (nee Dawson), of Owen Sound, at the age of 96 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Gordon Sutherland (1984) and the late Lorne Smith (2016). Loving sister of Capt. Grant Dawson (Elsbeth), Normie Dawson, Elaine Whetton (Bryan Taylor) and sister-in-law of Iva Sutherland. Mabel will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Dorothy Dawson; her siblings, Beth Woods (Alfred), Winnie Munson (Richard), Herbert Dawson, William Dawson, Ollie White (Elmer), Ida Thornley (Carl), Mary Howell (Lloyd), Rollie Dawson (Norma), Doris West, Joan Dawson, 2 infant brothers; her in-laws, Eleanor Corby (Dick), John Sutherland (Grace), Margaret McClelland (Cliff), Edward Sutherland (Teddy), Percy Sutherland, Marjorie Shier and Dorothy Mahon.
A Memorial Service for Mabel Sutherland-Smith will be held in the Chapel of the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 – 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492) on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Cathy Hird officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
