M Richard Joseph Burman - 1953

M Richard Joseph Burman – 1953 • 2017

Died peacefully at the Montreal Neurological Hospital of complications from brain cancer, age 64. Son of the late George Burman and the late Clare Walsh Burman. Beloved husband of Belva Webb, father of Elizabeth and Annalisa, brother of Terry (Micheline Sansregret), the late Peter (Linda Dawley), Patrick (Teresa Griffin) and Tony (the Hon. Jane Ferguson). He loved his grown-up nephews and nieces, their spouses and children, and was close to his Burman cousins.
Richard studied electronic technology at Cegep and Fine Arts at Concordia, leading him to a career as a video cameraman and documentary filmmaker. He had planned to spend his retirement making short documentaries, doing home renovations, helping other people with their repairs, and finally using up all the carefully-saved lumber in the basement. He also looked forward to having more time to practice his French horn and play with the Harmonie de Lachine and Otto Venti.
Richard could not have made this difficult journey without the grace of God, and the love and support shown by his family and many dear friends, especially Mary, Claire, and Grant. Special thanks for the attentive medical care he received at the MNH from Dr. Petrecca, Dr. Bokhari, the staff of ICU, 3 East and 3 South, and the therapists at Villa Medica rehab hospital.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, September 11 from 7 PM to 9 PM at J.J. Cardinal Funeral Home, 2125 Notre-Dame, Lachine (www.jjcardinal.ca 514-639-1511). Funeral service will be held at St. John Brébeuf Parish, 7777 George Street, LaSalle, followed by burial at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to either the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, or to CAMMAC, where he spent many delightful summers singing, playing and enjoying music.
