Lynn McDowell
Lynn Philip McDowell of Duchess, beloved husband of the late Vida McDowell, passed away at Brooks Health Centre on March 29, 2017 at the age of 72 years.
Lynn was born near Maple Creek, Sk. on June 21st, 1944 to Evans and Lenora McDowell and at age 19, he headed West to Brooks. Lynn was employed as a trucker for Hank Charlton and in 1967 he married Vida. They began raising a family soon after and he spent 23 years employed with Takeda Feedlot near Rosemary. In 1982, Lynn and Vida purchased a farm near Duchess where he resided until his passing. Lynn enjoyed visiting, playing guitar and singing. He truly appreciated time spent in the company of those who were musical. Lynn loved time spent with his family on vacation and held a place in his heart for the geysers of West Yellowstone Park.
Lynn was predeceased by his wife Vida in 2014, his parents and 3 brothers; 4 brother’s in-law; 2 sister’s in-law; mother in-law Peggie and father in-law Lawrence. Lynn is survived by his son Shawn of Brooks; daughter Eileen (Corey) of Duchess and their children Erika (Josh), daughter Skye (Rane), son David (Crystal), daughter Jasmine, son Alex; 7 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Faye Southwood of Maple Creek, Daphne Schmidt of Medicine Hat, Terry Armstrong of Camrose, Beth (Bob) of Swift Current; 1 brother, David (Sharon) of Medicine Hat; brother in-law, Lyle Town and his wife Dawn of Medicine Hat, sister in-law Lorraine Brown and her husband Bruce of Brooks and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
