Lorris Donald Milsap - February 9

Obituary for Mr. Lorris Donald Milsap
Lorris Donald Milsap, age 75, died early Friday morning August 25 in the caring community of Chinook Hospice in Calgary Alberta. Lorris was born in Lamont, Alberta and was the oldest of three children. He was predeceased by his parents the late Arnold and Helen (nee: McCartney) Milsap, children, Scott Milsap, David Milsap, Karen Blain-Tokai (Randy), and daughter-in-law, Sandy Milsap and grandchildren children Kelsey Milsap, Riley Milsap, Brady Blain and Mikaela Blain. He is also survived by his sisters Audrey Haak (Marty) and June Rock (George) along with many nieces and nephews. Lorris “Dr. Detroit” left the family farm in his early-20’s and began a lifelong career in trucking. He knew as much about trucks as anyone could and worked as an employee, company manager and an owner-operator for nearly 50 years. Following his trucking career, Lorris owned and operated a liquor store in the Vulcan area for approximately 10 years where he met and created lifelong friendships, through his career and years of volunteering and his community minded lifegiving approach. He was an avid golfer, karaoke singer, and conversationalist, with a particular love of politics and social issues. Lorris was a true extrovert and for the past ten years he enjoyed winter vacationing in Yuma, Arizona where he made many new friends. At Lorris request cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lorris may be made to support “Dr. John Kelly’s glioblastoma research” in the Charbonneau Cancer Institute at the University of Calgary.
