Lloyd Doey reached the end of his long life well-lived, peacefully passing away while surrounded by family, on Friday, November 10, 2017 in his 92nd year.
Lloyd was the son of the late Walter & Alta (nee Mifflin) Doey.
Loving husband to the late Lillian “Jean” (nee Baynton).
Beloved father of David Doey & wife, Suham of Chatham, Richard Doey & wife, Elaine of London and Sandy Moore & husband, Wes of Sault Ste. Marie.
Papa of Gabrielle Doey, Amanda Doey, Heather Moore & Brianne Pringle (Joshua) and great-uncle of Adam (Caitlin) Harris.
Predeceased by brothers, Douglas, Allan & Murray Doey.
Lloyd served proudly with the Royal Canadian Navy at the close of World War Two.
A resident of Chatham, Lloyd worked at the Doey Gravel Pit in Cedar Springs before he started as a lineman with Chatham Hydro in 1954, retiring in 1990 as Engineering Supervisor. An avid golfer, he was active in community service and he enjoyed contributing to the Scouts, Minor Baseball, Goodfellows, and Outreach for Hunger.
Family to receive friends on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Lloyd may be made to the Chatham-Kent Student Breakfast Programs or to a community charity of your choice.
