Obituary for Linda Blocka
Linda Faye Marie Blocka
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Linda Faye Marie Blocka on March 29, 2017 at her home at the age of 61 years. Linda was born on July 21, 1955, and raised in Prince Albert. She graduated from Technical High School, moved to La Ronge to be with her sister, Loretta, then moved back to Prince Albert a year later at which time she began work at the Credit Union. While working at the Credit Union she met the love of her life, Leonard. Their first official date was a New Year’s Eve dance on December 31, 1976, and after a whirlwind romance they were married on October 8, 1977. The city girl, Linda came to embrace farm life and could be found happily helping with farm duties. Linda had a heart of gold and could be relied on with a helping hand for anybody, be it family or neighbours. She treasured each and every grandchild and they all enjoyed the weekend sleepovers at Gramma and Papa’s! Linda had a special place in her heart for the Raiders hockey team. You could find her there with her Dad discussing game play! Linda took pride in her cooking and baking and always shared her baking when asked. She also loved her yard, delighting in her many flowers and creating new flower bed arrangements. On October 7, 2005 Linda was given the gift of life from her sister Esther, when she received one of her kidneys. A bond was created which the sisters celebrated every year. Linda was proud to be a kidney recipient and supported The Kidney Foundation of Canada tirelessly. She is survived by her loving husband: Leonard; and sons: Robert (Chelsey), granddaughters: Rylee & Zoey; grandson: Austin; and his mother: Stephanie; Tim (Bobbi); and Andrew, granddaughters: Alina, Alisha & Alice. Her brother: Walter; her sisters: Loretta (Carl), Esther (Herb), Debbie (Donnie), Sharon, Patricia (Tony); Leonard’s brothers: Ron (Terry), Don (Verna), Dave (Diane), Brian (Angele) and sisters: Rose Marie (Pete), Arlene, Terri (Walter), Cathy (Brian) as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Linda is predeceased by: her parents: Arsene and May; brother: Ronnie; and brother-in-law: Gerry; Leonard’s parents: Mike and Annie Blocka; her sister-in-law: Shelley; brother-in-law: Dwight; and nephew: Ken. We would like to thank Linda’s family doctor, Dr. Jamie Harris and his staff, her kidney specialist, Dr. Shoker and his staff for their care and support throughout the years. The Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 7:00 pm at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 130 9th St. E, Prince Albert, SK. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Kings Court Auditorium at Plaza 88 (the former downtown Co-op Grocery Store, enter from the east entrance) with Reverend Sharon Kuhn as Officiant.
