Leslie Alfred Mackie
1925-2017
Leslie Alfred Mackie died peacefully surrounded by his loving
family on Thursday Nov 30, 2017. Born in Saint John on July
26, 1925, he was a son of the late George and Cecile (Parent) Mackie.
Leslie served in the RCAF during WW2 after which he joined his
father’s firm George Mackie & Sons Ltd (established
in 1916) of which he later became president. He served as
president of the maritime chapter of the Illuminating Engineering
Society, was president, founding member and life member of the
Electrical Contractors Association of New Brunswick. He was
also President of the Lancaster Lions Club and Life Member of Lions
International and a Member and Honourary Life Member of the Knights of
Columbus Council 937 4th Degree.
Leslie loved his family dearly and spent his time working at
what he loved – his Electrical Contracting, boating, swimming,
fishing, hunting and travelling the world. Charity was
important to Leslie and he devoted time to helping others in need.
He was also a champion diver, gymnast and dabbled in Judo.
Leslie loved classical music and live concerts and would often be
listening to Scheherazade on his headphones. Being a man of faith, he
could be seen in the back row of Saint Rose’s Parish on the
west side every Sunday. He could also be seen at Tim Hortons
every morning thoroughly enjoying coffee with his family and
friends.
Leslie’s life was devoted to his loving late wife
Corinne, his dearest cousin Allie Kane and family. Leslie is
survived by his children: Keith Mackie (the late Margaret Gionet),
Allie Kakulas (Evan) and Patrick Mackie (Lisa); his beloved
grandchildren, Michael (Tamara), Robin, Alexandra, Gillian, Corinne
and Herky; great-grandchildren, Lucien, Mikayla, Melody, Keith and
Courtney; three great-great-grandchildren, Brynn, Jayce and Kara; a
brother, Edward Mackie (Barb); as well as many nieces, nephews and
friends.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Corinne
(Kane) Mackie, Leslie was predeceased by his siblings, George, Alex,
Donald, Lillian, Hilda and Robert.
The Mackie family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to
the nurses and associates of the Saint John Extra Mural Program for
their compassionate care of Leslie. Marjorie, Carol, Lisa, Sue and Dr.

by our family.
