Obituary of Kenneth Rankin
Rankin, Kenneth Allen “Sam”- of Highgate, passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Tuesday August 8, 2017, age 75. Son of the late Charles Allan and Ruth Alexina (nee Smith) Rankin. Beloved husband of A. Carol (nee Austen) for 52 years. Loving father of Michael Rankin (Sheila Lamrock) of London and Nicole (Geof) Kristoff of London. Grandpa of Adeline and Tess Kristoff. Brother of Dave Rankin of Highgate and Kevin (Carol) Rankin of Ridgetown. Brother-in-law of Dorothy (late Dwight) Henderson of Lucan, Leslie (late Dorothy) Austen of Bothwell, and John (Ruth Anne) Austen of London. Also survived by his Aunt Carol (Steward) Medley of London and Uncle Ted (late Ruth) Beattie of Chatham. Will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Ken was an avid sportsman, playing baseball for many years and followed the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. He passed his love of sports onto his two granddaughters whom he enjoyed watching compete. Ken was the Owner/Operator of C.A. Rankin Transport for over 50 years. After retirement he dedicated his time to his gardens, feeding the birds, cutting grass and spending much loved time with his family. Ken was also an active member of the Turin United Church.
A Memorial Visitation for Ken will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. East. Ridgetown on Friday August 11, 2017 from 6-9pm. A Private Family Burial will be held in the Duart Cemetery.
