Obituary of Kenneth Burgess
JUNE 24, 1935 – DECEMBER 25, 2017
Ken passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Vivian; and brother Ron. Ken is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Carol; daughter Linda (Shaun) Galloway; son Brian (Janice); seven grandchildren, Scott (Jessica), Greg, Carolyn (Aaron) Norris, Leah, Mihret, Jeffry and Garrett (Kristina); brother Bill; sisters-in-law Helen and Maxine; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. As a husband, father, and business partner, Ken was a true role model. He was a kind, gentle, strong, determined and above all humble man. Ken was passionate about sports throughout his life. In his younger years he was an oarsman with the Regina Rowing Club, he loved hunting, fishing and supporting the Riders. Ken was an avid golfer at the Wascana Country Club where he made many friends. In his forties he started K.M. Burgess Agencies Ltd. and worked passionately in that business until his early seventies. He spent many years enjoying the summers out at Regina Beach. Ken loved his winters in Phoenix where golfing, bowling, bocce-ball, and cards were plentiful. If he wasn’t golfing or going south you would find him at the Field House walking and challenging himself to do better each time. Ken was met with many health challenges later in life but he faced each one without a complaint. A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held in the spring of 2018. The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff of 5E and I.C.U. at the General Hospital for their attention to detail and care of Ken. In lieu of flowers memorial donation in Ken’s name may be made to Kidney Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1-2217 Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 9Z9.
