Kelly Eleanor Smith-Duffett
1966-2017
Kelly Eleanor Smith-Duffett passed away peacefully in the
presence of her loving family on June 22, 2017. She will be
dearly missed by her daughters, Leah and Hannah; their father, James
Duffett; her parents, Barbara-Jean (MacArthur) and Dexter Smith;
brother Michael D. Smith (Cindy); niece Erin and nephew Alex; as well
as a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She will
be especially remembered by her very special canine “boy”,
Bailey.
A woman who lived out her faith, Kelly was always ready to
help others. She was a very active member of St. John the
Baptist Anglican Church; served at the national level of the Canadian
Mothers’ Union as newsletter editor; and was a long-time
member of the planning committee for the Diocese of Fredericton Choir
School. Her love of music led her to perform with Riversong, and
spread to her daughters whose performances in both choral and piano
music brought her unmeasured joy.
A Highland dancer until the age of eighteen, Kelly was
confronted with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) which cost her dearly as
she bravely battled it for many years. She marked those
years with remarkable determination, kindness, courage, love, grace,
patience and humour. She was a creative problem-solver and
organizer who pushed the limits, never more evident than in her role
as Clinic Manager at Eastern Prosthetic Clinic in
Moncton.
She was a caring mother, who held long talks over tea with
her daughters from an early age, and loved them more than life
itself.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd.,
Riverview, NB, (869-2007). A funeral service will take place at St.
John the Baptist Anglican Church (28 Woolrigde Ave., Riverview) on
Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00am. Out of respect for the family and
their wishes for a scent free environment, in lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to War Amps of Canada Advocacy Program, Diocese
of Fredericton Choir School or Hospice Greater Moncton. Condolences
may be expressed to the family at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
