Joyce Violet Buchegger
February 17, 1931 – December 16, 2016
Passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home on Friday December 16, 2016 at age 85. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 59 years and her large family of six children, nine grand-children and three great-grand children. From her early years in the Salvation Army Church in Toronto and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour as a teen, she joyfully served as a single missionary with New Tribes Mission for six years in Bolivia and later 11 years with her husband Henry, among the Ayore tribe in Bolivia and Paraguay. Returning to Canada in the 70s, she was a loyal wife and mother, involving herself in church and community events (teaching SS, 4H, night school Spanish and Typing, and applying her clerical skills to running a home business with her husband, working in a local Dr.’s office, at Cobourg Alliance Church and in the Christian Horizons office.) In her retirement, she along with Henry, enjoyed editing, printing and distributing the Trent Valley Association Baptist monthly newsletters. She loved words, whether languages, playing Scrabble and writing poetry or a life story. She treasured her friendships and growing in her understanding of God’s Word, the Bible with the people of the Belleville Spanish Church, UCW (Secretary for 28 years), Eddystone Baptist and many wonderful circles. In her later years, she was attentively cared for by her husband Henry, with special thanks to Dr. Amin. She enjoyed visits from her family, kind neighbours and fb friends, connecting and sharing life and her faith in God’s grace to save from our sins, all who believe and chose to follow Him. Following a Campus Crusade for Christ service as a young teen in Toronto, Billy Graham signed her Bible with Ps 16:11 “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” In this guidance, she found comfort. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, New Tribes Mission or to the Gideons. Friends are invited to call at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg on Thursday December 22nd, from 1-2 pm., followed by a funeral service at 2 pm.
