Obituary for Joseph Lewis Nagy
NAGY, Joseph Lewis – Passed away, peacefully, at the Welland Extended Care Unit on Thursday, November 9, 2017 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Mary Patricia Nagy (nee Brady). Cherished father of Alexander “Lewy” Nagy and Patricia Kreiger (Bill). Proud and loving grandfather of Paula, Carol and Brenda Nagy, Kelly Seger (Rob), Jason Nagy (Anita), Matthew Kreiger (Stacey), Mary-Anne Dechamps, Melissa Steward (Craig) and Noah Kreiger. Also survived by twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Dear brother of Nick Nagy. Predeceased by his parents Andrew Nagy and Julia Paszner and sister Anne Poczos.
Joseph was born in Welland in 1928 and remained a lifelong resident of the city. He worked for Page Hersey for 16 years and then General Motors where he retired after 23 years service. He was a member of the Merritt Lodge for 50 years and a volunteer for the Port Robinson Fire Department. Joseph enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, hunting, cooking and was a talented carver. Above all else, he was a man who dearly loved his family. He leaves his love and most treasured memories in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family will receive friends at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Saturday, November 11th (today) from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A service to honour Joseph’s life will begin in the Cudney Chapel at 1 p.m followed by interment at Doan’s Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Rice Road Community Church or the Welland Hospital Extended Care Unit.
