John Stephen Paul Mullins
It is with heavy hearts that the Mullins family announce the passing of John Stephen Paul Mullins on August 20, 2017, in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS. John was born on October 18, 1947 in Halifax to the late Doris Evangeline (Harris) and John Francis (Frank) Mullins.
John was a loving and beloved husband to Louise (Tanner) Mullins for over 44 years and resided in Timberlea, NS. He was a wonderful father to his three children; a son, Jim Mullins of West Dublin, NS and two daughters, Anna-Marie Young (Colin) of Lakeside and Joanne Walkden (Joey) of Timberlea, NS. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Sarah, Amanda, Colby, Kaily, Tanner, Delaney, Hunter and Katherine, as well as by his greatgrandchildren: Mathieu, Jaxson, Camryn, Nash and Darius (Mr. D.). He is also survived by his two brothers, Jamie Mullins (Lynn) of River Bourgeois, NS and Gerry Mullins (Judy) of Coquitlam, BC; as well as a number of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
John was employed for many years as an oil burner mechanic on a contract basis with the Irving Oil Company and later worked in the office until his retirement in 1997. Retirement gave him the opportunity to explore his many interests which included John’s favorite pastime; sitting at Tim Horton’s, drinking a coffee, while watching movies on his iPad and when it was not in use, could be found attached to the back side of his belt. Over the years, he also loved to travel to various unknown destinations, especially to Nova Scotia’s beautiful beaches. For many years, John loved to reproduce family photos and change them from color to black and white, in his private dark room at home.
Louise and her two daughters, Anna-Marie and Joanne, wish to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff on the 6A floor of the Victoria General Hospital, which includes: Annie, Rose, Kyle, Jeff, Christian and Vanessa and the crew. A celebration of life will be held 6:30 PM –9:00 PM Monday August 28 in the Ronald A Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy’s Cove Road, Upper Tantallon.
