Jack was
born and lived his entire life in Woody Point, with the exception of
his University years at MUN and a teaching year in Curling. He married
the love of his life, Sue Burden, in 1965. After 30 years of dedicated
service as a Teaching Principal, Jack retired in 1994.Jack was a
volunteer fire fighter for over 30 years, achieved a service award
from the Canadian Red Cross for his humanitarian work, was an
aggressive right-wing defenceman for over 35 years, softball
“Catcher’, hobby painter, church and cemetery board
member, hockey coach and captivating story teller. Jack is survived by
his wife Sue (52 years married), daughters Melanie (Robin) Parsons and
Marcia (Greg) Johannesen, granddaughters Jill, Carly &
Candace, and lots of extended family. He is predeceased by his
parents, Jack & Dora, granddaughter Faith and long-time family
pet Bruno. Funeral service will take place on Friday, November
3rd, 2 pm at the Shoal Brook United Church with
reception to follow at the Legion (Woody Point). At the request of
family, no flowers. Donations to Gros Morne Summer Music 30 Elswick
