Obituary for John Peter Kubik
It is with incredible sadness that the family of John Kubik announces his passing at home, surrounded by family on Saturday, December 17th, 2016 at the age of 90 years. John served as a private in World War II as a POW guard. After working in the mines in the Crowsnest Pass for 11 years, he and his wife, Veronica moved to Calgary to raise their family. He worked briefly for Safeway and then Canada Post. He was a letter carrier for 31 years and was well known by many for his easy smile and good humour. He was a dedicated volunteer in his church and his community for over 40 years. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Besides his loving wife of 61 years, Veronica, John is survived by, his sister Ethel Pattison (Don); sons, Glenn Kubik (Rita), Paul Kubik (Andrea); daughters, Colleen Zuzic (Dino), Lori Tahmazian (Alex); 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. John was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Susan Kubik and sisters, Anne Cerney and Emma Giacomuzzi. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint James Catholic Church (5504 – 20 Street SW) on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Edmund F. Vargas, presider. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with John’s family through www.evanstrong.com.
