Arnold, John Orr—
At St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Guelph, on Friday, March 3, 2017. John O. Arnold in his 96th year was predeceased by his beloved wife of 70 years Eileen (McCaffrey) (2016). He was the proud father of David and his wife Sylvia of Mississauga, Elizabeth McMillan and her husband Lloyd of Orangeville, and Jane Arnold and her partner Richard Barss of Calgary, AB. He was the dear grandfather of Christopher McMillan (Tomi) and Ian Arnold and step-grandfather of Jackie Taylor (Andrew) of Georgetown, Julie McMillan of Toronto and Alec McMillan (Corissa) of Winnipeg and of 6 step great-grandchildren. John was the youngest sibling of Ada Arnold formally of Ottawa and brother of Elizabeth Cross (Cecil) of Kingston, Peggy Collier (Lloyd) of Portland, Oregon, Jim and Ralph of Carp, ON, and Pat Warden of Guelph, all of whom are predeceased. John obtained his C.A. degree in 1948 and soon after moved to Guelph and practiced with a number of C.A. firms, finally as a partner with RLB. LLP. He was a long time member of the Rotary Club of Guelph and a member of the G/W Men’s Club. In addition he enjoyed the many friends at the weekly luncheon of ROMEOS. Over the years, John served on a number of local boards and committees and also volunteered his service for a number of community charitable programs.
Friends will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph at a later time.
