John “Henry” Mitchell 1930-2017
John “Henry” Mitchell, husband of the late Gertrude Barnaby of Esgenoopetitj, NB, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 23rd at the age of 87. Born in Esgenoopetitj, NB. Henry was the son of the late Frank Mitchell and Elizabeth Somerville. Henry was a medical driver in Esgenoopetitj for many years. Henry is survived by five daughters: Donna Gloade of Millbrook, NS, Delphine Barnaby of Esgenoopetitj, NB, Glenda Barnaby of Lewiston, ME, Tamara Barnaby of Listuguj, QC and Wanda Barnaby of Irishtown, NB; four sons: Joseph Marven Barbaby (Lita) of Boston, MA, Donald Barnaby (Darlene) of Millbrook, NS, Jason Barnaby (Carrie) and Vincent Cloud (Freda), both of Esgenoopetitj, NB. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Henry is predeceased by two sisters: Mary Metallic and Sadie Hope; five brothers: Alex Mitchell, Franklyn Mitchell, Roger Mitchell, George Mitchell and Noel Mitchell as well as one daughter: Delia Barnaby. Henry was the last surviving member of his family. A public visitation will be held at Henry’s residence, 700 Mic Mac Road, Esgenoopetitj, NB on Thursday, December 28th after 2 PM and again on Friday, December 29th.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Esgenoopetitj, on Saturday, December 30th at 11 AM with Father Anthony Papu officiating. As expressions of sympathy, in Henry’s memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
