Obituary

SCHREINER – John Gordon Schreiner of Scandia, AB passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 after a lengthy illness.
John was born October 18, 1945 in Magrath, AB to John and Olive Schreiner. When he was 3, the family moved to Scandia, AB where he resided on the family homestead until his passing. John married Margaret Hirney in 1988 and took over the family farm, which he farmed until 2006.
John loved curling, outdoor camping with family and friends, ice fishing, traveling down south in the winter, and talking about the good old times. John was a volunteer firefighter with the Scandia Fire Department for many years. Most of all, he enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren.
John is predeceased by his parents and granddaughter Danielle. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret of Scandia; sister, Jane Duckett of Medicine Hat; nieces: Sherri (daughter Macie) and Shauna (Paiboon and daughters Nam-pon and Rosie) of Thailand; stepchildren: Chantelle (Shawn) of Brooks, Richard of Petawawa, ON, George of B.C., and Dolly (Ryan) of Lethbridge; grandchildren: Tyler (Katelyn), Tia, Benjamin, Mason, Hailey, and Kara.
A memorial service will be held in Scandia, AB at the Salem Lutheran Church on June 9, 2017 at 2PM.
In memory of John, if friends desire, can be made to Brooks and District Health Foundation: Making Dialysis a Reality in Brooks.
