Obituary
John David Schmidt of Strathmore was born to Jacob and Lydia Schmidt in Medicine Hat, AB, and spent his childhood on the farm in Manyberries, farming, riding and playing baseball. In 1963 John married Diane Stickel, and they went on to raise 4 kids of their own. John was predeceased by his parents and three of his sisters, Jacqueline Schmidt, Annie (John) Urichuk, and Shirley (Bill) Lawson. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, their 4 children, Ron, Joyce, April, Trish (Stacy), 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Dorothy (Fred) Yanke and Ida (Larry) Ehnes. We welcome family & friends to join us at Thom’s Funeral Home & Reception (477 Margaret A East, Duchess, Alberta) on Saturday, July 15 at 2:00 pm to celebrate John’s life.
