HOPEWELL – John Clement “Clemmie” Slaney, 74, Hopewell, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by his loving family listening to the music of his beloved Cape Breton fiddler, Natalie MacMaster.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Newel and Mary (Grace) Slaney.
Surviving are his wife, Bridget ‘Cookie” (Dicks); daughter, Shauna (Craig) Fukes, New Glasgow; sons, John (Lyv), Seoul, South Korea; Shawn (Sharon Kingsbury), Stellarton; grandchildren; Nolan and Brennan Fukes; brother, Kevin (Gloria), Oshawa, Ontario.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, James Claver.
Mass of Christian Burial, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 in Our Lady Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson presiding. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. A. Drucker, Dr. K. Young, and Pam of the Oncology Department, VG Hospital; Alice, Ashley, Chelsea; Dr. Danny, Dr. A. Algethami, and Andrea Garby at the Aberdeen Hospital. A very special thank you to Dr. E. Soliman.
Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Capital Projects Fund, Lourdes Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
