Obituary of Joanne Wideman
Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the age of 68. Loving and cherished wife of Cliff for 41 years. Dear mother of Amy (Mike) Scott, of Waterloo and Trevor (Jody) Wideman, of Alberta. Beloved grandmother of Kai Scott and Kallie Wideman.
Will be lovingly remembered by her parents Helen and the late Nyal Shantz and mother-in-law Florence Wideman; brothers and sisters Richard (Connie) Shantz, Lorrie (Roger) Baechler, Pauline (Dr. Glenn) Martin and Mike (Linda) Shantz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Elaine (Alvin) Hershberger, Elroy (Ruby) Wideman, Beulah (Dr. Mel) Gerber, Reta (Rudy) Derksen, Eva (Norm) Woodard, Maynard (Sue) Wideman, Stew (Diane) Wideman and Marilyn Wideman, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Alice and Robert Martin and father-in-law Aaron Wideman.
Joanne was born and raised on a dairy farm near Baden. She loved enjoying time with her family and cherished her Grandkids. She was a longtime member of St. Jacobs Mennonite Church. She retired from Electrohome and was able to enjoy many years of volunteering with the Mennonite Central Committee Thrift Store. Joanne loved to travel with Cliff, was an avid curler, enjoyed ringette, playing golf and skiing.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Joanne with her family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Monday, January 1, 2018 from 7-9 p.m and Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, 1310 King St. N., St. Jacobs on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Diller Harder and Pastor Wendy Janzen officiating. Reception to follow the service in the church hall. Private family interment St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery.
