Obituary of Joan Hillyard
Hillyard, Joan Mary (nee Laing)
Of Buckhorn on Thursday March 23, 2017 at PRHC in her 83rd year. Wife of the late Peter Hillyard and mother to Elaine Donaldson (Colin) of Lakefield, Lindsey Kelly (Shane) of New Zealand and the late Ian Hillyard of Buckhorn. Grandmother to Patrick and Sam Kelly of New Zealand. Sister to Alistair Laing (Marilyn) of Apsley, Heather Laing of Apsley, Margaret Douthwait of England, Jean Hutchinson of Havelock and the late Don Laing of Lakehurst and Rod Laing of England. Joan lived in Buckhorn for 41 years and was the owner of Homecrafts Gift and Needlework Shop for 20 years before retiring.
She was the founder of the 1st Buckhorn Fall Craft Show in November of 1979 and a dedicated volunteer for many years at the Wednesday Night Bingo. In memory of Joan donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or PRHC Palliative Care Unit. Interment will take place at Lakehurst Cemetery at a later date.
