1995-2017
Jeremy David Ingham – aged 22 years, passed away peacefully
at home, surrounded by his loving family after a very long and
courageous battle with cancer, on Friday December 29th, 2017. Jeremy
was the eldest son of Dr. David Ingham and Jennifer Ingham [nee
Davidson]. Jeremy was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on July 14th, 1995
and moved to Wolfville with his family in early 1996. Jeremy
attended Wolfville Elementary and Junior High School, and later Horton
High School where he graduated in 2013 with honours where he was
awarded an entrance scholarship to Acadia University. After
postponing university for several months due to his illness and
related treatments, Jeremy happily enrolled in the science program at
Acadia University in the Fall of 2014. With determination
and perseverance, Jeremy was able to graduate with a BSc degree in
Chemistry and Biology from Acadia in October 2017. His family and
friends were absolutely thrilled he could accomplish this. Jeremy was
passionate about swimming [he was a member of the Wolfville Tritons
swim club since the age of 7] and later swam for the varsity swim team
at Acadia University for one year before his illness
returned. Jeremy was an avid golfer and member of the KenWo
golf club for over a decade. Jeremy was also an accomplished
downhill skier and member of the Martock Ski Club for over a decade as
well. After surgery prevented Jeremy from
returning to downhill skiing he took up snowshoeing which he enjoyed
very much with his grandmother “Nanny Davidson” and his
mother Jen. Jeremy enjoyed biking and conversation, especially with
his close friend and theology professor Chris, with whom he would
share many discussions while brewing beer. Jeremy’s
Christian faith was a great comfort to him during his illness and he
was never one to shy away from a good-hearted argument with anyone on
topics like education, politics, and health care. He was
also very interested in learning about his “Bermudian roots”
and his ancestry in Bermuda on his father’s side of the family. Jeremy
was predeceased by his grandfather Dr. Terrence Ingham. He
is survived by his grandparents Dr. Hugh and Mary Davidson and his
grandmother Beatrice Ingham, his parents Dr. David and Jennifer Ingham
[nee Davidson]; loving brother, Matthew Ingham; uncles, Dr. Kevin
Ingham [Heather], Dr. Andrew Ingham [Cindy], Robert Davidson [Mary];
aunts, Erica McGill [Lisa], Elizabeth Hove [Trevor]; cousins, Allison,
Brian, Ryan, Alex, and Harrison Ingham, Megan McLean [Michael],
Cameron McGill, Etain, Bredin and Fiona Davidson, Caleb, Samuel,
Delaney and Chloe Hove, and very special friend, Brendan Vibert who
was like a brother to Jeremy. The family would like to thank Nurse
April Connolly and the team of oncologists at the IWK for all their
kindness and caring treatment during Jeremy’s illness. The
family would also like to thank Dr. Rob Rutledge, radiation
oncologist, and Dr. Michael Gross, Jeremy’s orthopedic oncology
surgeon for treating him for almost 5 years, not only as a patient but
also as a mentor and close friend. There will be no visitation by
request. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on
Wednesday January 3rd, 2018 at the New Minas Baptist Church, 9453
Commercial Street, New Minas, followed by interment. Jeremy was a
kind, compassionate, and extremely giving person with a keen interest
in cancer research. This passion for helping others led him
to create a scholarship in his name with the assistance of Dr. Jason
Berman. It is for this reason the family wishes you to
consider a donation to the Jeremy Ingham Cancer Research Trust care of
the IWK Foundation Suite B220, 5855 Spring Garden Road, Halifax NS,
B3H 4S2 or at

in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the
