Obituary Overview
Jenny Olynyk
On Sunday, December 24, 2017, Jenny passed away at the Misericordia Health Centre.
Jenny was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba where she lived for most of her life.
She graduated from Home Economics at the University of Manitoba and later completed her Dietetic Internship at the Hamilton General Hospital. Her first professional position was at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Jenny moved back to Winnipeg and accepted a position as Therapeutic Dietician at Misericordia Hospital. She was later appointed Director of the Dietary Department, and sat on the Board of the Canadian Dietetic Association as the representative from Manitoba. Jenny subsequently moved to Kenora, Ontario where she worked and lived for 17 years until her early retirement in October, 1991. During this time she helped to form the Kenora branch of the Canadian Diabetes Association, and sat as President for a number of years.
Jenny travelled extensively to many parts of the world. She was an avid reader, and loved animals. Jenny also enjoyed Manitoba Theatre Centre productions and attending the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
She was predeceased by her father Peter (1979), mother Anne (1997), uncles Peter, John, Michael, and aunts Magda and Ann.
She is survived by her cousin Walter Bard and his family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion Street. Interment to follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery.
