We honor a very special lady Clara Jean Harriet Renauld (Cudmore)born January 12, 1929 – May 28, 2017.
Her immediate family and extended family want to celebrate the person who has left wonderful memories for us to cherish.
Jean was born on the farm near Parkman, Sk. She passed away peacefully Sunday May 28, 2017.
Jean was a doer. Reliable, capable, often with a sparkle in her eye, she was caring, generous and most important a faithful Christian woman.
Jean grew up on the family farm with two older sisters Eileen, Neta, and Lois, older brother Orlow and youngest sister Myrna. This is where she developed her love of gardening, cooking, canning and sewing. Faith, family, music, church and community were important to the family. These values influenced how she lived her live.
When Jean married Edgar Renauld they moved to his family farm near Parkman. They were married for ? years.
Together they lived full lives of hard work, generosity, hospitality and involvement in church and community. Sons John and then Pat completed their family. They enjoyed their trips to the USA, Ontario, Quebec and summer camps at Arlington Beach.
As a home maker she grew large gardens with different berry bushes and of course Edgar’s gladiolas. These fresh items were shared with others. The kitchen was the hub of her home, full of smells of baking buns and pies. Edgar would drop off these to neighbors and give to anyone dropping in for coffee. There were many family celebrations hosted at the Renauld farm.
Jean’s kitchen was a true prairie kitchen with 2 full fridges, a deep freeze, and downstairs shelves full of canning and jams. The sewing room was the second most utilized room where she created dresses, quilts and other items that she had seen at hand craft shows or in magazines. In retirement she and Edgar were very productive. Many items were sent to organizations for women and children of countries in need.
Her family was very important to her. She was always there for her family for the challenges and for the celebrations. We all knew we were in her prayers and we have special quilts and other handmade items in our homes to remind us of Jean. This generous spirit was shared with neighbors and friends.
She enjoyed being involved in her son’s lives as they developed different interests and later on with her grandsons. John and Pat were always in her thoughts and in later years they stayed connected by phone. Pat and Rhonda paid regular visits and together Pat and Jean would make a favorite recipe from his youth (often pizza).
Sports were also an interest. She enjoyed curling and skipped a rink winning different bonspiels. She was an avid Blue Jay baseball and Rough Rider fan.
Jean always said that it was her faith that gave her strength to handle life’s challenges. Prayer gave her peace that God was in control of even the smallest detail and music gave her joy. Her Wawota church family and other extended church friends through Arlington Beach camp were an enriching part of her life.
She would want to thank you for being part of her life and especially your prayers, visits and acts of kindness during these last few months.
