Obituary of James Tombol
TOMBOL, Imre “Jim”
In his 87th year, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, July 9th 2017, Jim was a good husband, father, step-father and grandfather. Survived by his wife of almost 40 years Geraldine and his children Imre (Ari), Frank (Lianne), Steve (Debbie), Richard, Deborah Murray, Douglas (Deborah) Murray, Robin (Warren) Lakey and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim was born August 16th, 1930 in Angyafold, Budapest, Hungary, the eleventh and youngest child of Ferenc and Maria. Arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia aboard the T.S.S. Columbia on January 14th 1957 he traveled all across Canada before settling down to raise his family in Brantford. Jim worked for over 20 years with Massey-Ferguson and retired early to set up a butcher shop in South River. When his business became too time consuming he retired from that to spend more time with family and fishing. Elephant Lake during the summers and off Redington Long Pier in Florida during the winters. Wherever he could enjoy his favorite past-time: catching, cooking and serving fish. He was famous with both family and friends alike for his fish fries, signature kielbasa and Hungarian dishes. At Jim’s request cremation has already taken place. Friends will be received at the HILL and ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION CENTRE, 30 Nelson Street, Brantford on Friday, August 4th from 11 – 1 p.m. A Graveside Service will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 169 Charing Cross at 1:15 p.m. Special thank you to Victorian Order of Nurses, Stedman Community Hospice and Ontario’s Community Care Access Centre for all their support.
