God quietly released Jim from his suffering , and called him peacefully home from University Hospital in London, ON on August 2nd, 2017.
Jim leaves to mourn his wife (Marilyn), his daughter Susan (Roger) Ivany, his son Keith (Heather), and his brothers Bill (Thelma) in Kelowna, BC and Geoff (Deryldene) in Gander, NL. He also leaves his treasured grandsons Jason (Kristen) Ivany in Cold Lake, AB and Tony (Jessie) in Moncton, N.B. He leaves behind three stepsons Wayne (Mickey) in Calgary, AB, Perry (Anna) in Cambridge, ON and Dan (Trish) in Guelph, ON, and four granddaughters Amanda, Alyssa, Emma, and Gwen (The Goodridge Family), his mother-in-law Alma Pike and his other in-laws, the Pike family. Jim has a large circle of family members and good friends in Newfoundland and across the country. He has made many acquaintances and friends in London through his church family and in Florida.
Jim was pre-deceased by his parents Jim Sr. and Molly Tucker, and his father-in-law George Pike.
Jim had a big personality and loved telling stories, particularly about the political and business history of Newfoundland. Little children loved Jim, as we all did. He had a wry wit, and we will miss him forever; he would be pleased to know he will be a big part of our family conversations for years to come.
Jim was a lifetime member and Past Master of Tasker Lodge #454 SC, Past Master of Lodge Conception #679 SC, past officer of District Grand Lodge of Scotland in NL, member of Mazol Shriners, member of Royal Order of Scotland, and Past President and CEO of Masonic Park Seniors Park Complex and Nursing Home.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Byron United Church on Saturday, August 12th., 2017 at 11 a.m. to be preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. and followed by a reception. A memorial service will be held from Wesley United Church in St. John’s NL on Friday, September 1st at 2 p.m. to be preceded by visitation at Wesley Church at 1 p.m. and followed by light refreshments and committal.
