James “Jimmy” Francis Arsenault
James “Jimmy” Francis Arsenault, 90, of Lutes
Mountain, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday,
April 20, 2017, with his loving family by his side.Born in Adamsville,
he was the son of the late Abel and Gertrude (Swift)
Arsenault.
Jimmy was a member of St. Augustine’s Roman
Catholic Church and a Life Time Charter Member of Magnetic Hill Lions
Club. Jimmy enjoyed working in the woods, spending time in Coal Branch
and Main River, listening to music, loved caring for horses and
tinkering in the garage. Jimmy worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator
with Dexter Construction. He operated the first D9 CAT Dozer
in the Maritimes, building the Trans Canada Highway and then operated
a Boom Truck for Modern Construction, earning the handle “Little
Hook”, having worked on the first Fibre Op project in New
Brunswick.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Annie
(Peters); children, Gary Gauvin (Janet) of Gallagher Ridge, Cheryl
Anne Arsenault of Lutes Mountain; Darlene Landry (Paul) of Waltham, MA
and Daryl Arsenault (Kim) of Lutes Mountain; grandchildren, Darren
Gauvin (Tammy), Angie Bourque (René) and Nick and Will
Arsenault; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Jacob, Carter, Brandon and
Ryan; his sister, Rose Smith. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was
predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Harold, Jean, Joe, Frankie,
Johnny, Gert, Bill and Ed.
Jimmy’s long battle with cardio vascular disease
placed him in the path of many wonderful, respected surgeons and
doctors over the years: the family would like to extend our sincere
thanks to Vascular Surgeon Dr. Christos Lioupis and the Staff of 5600
at the Moncton Hospital and Vascular Surgeon Dr. Claus Schaus and the
Staff of 4 SW Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton. Special thanks
to Jimmy’s long time family doctor and friend, Dr. John
Li.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995) on Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Parish Prayers and
Sharing of Memories for Jimmy at 8:30 pm. A Service to celebrate and
honour Jimmy’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home
Chapel on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Phil Mulligan
officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following
the service.
