Jacqueline’Jackie’ Mary Rose (Walsh) Silver
1947-2017
Silver,Jacqueline Mary Rose (Walsh). It is with great sadness
that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and Grammie,
Jacqueline Mary Rose (Walsh) Silver, 70, on September 7th, 2017 in
Sherbrooke. Jackie was born in Waverley, on April 6, 1947.
Growing up, Jackie loved singing with various bands and groups
including Woodies Termites and laughing with her friends. She attended
Mount Saint Vincent University for secretarial studies and moved to
Sherbrooke at the tender age of 21, where she became a fixture in the
community. She first worked at the telephone office and then later at
St. Mary’s Rural High School as a secretary. Jackie had a
passion for helping others in her community by volunteering with the
RecPlex, Lions Club, Goldenville 4×4 Association, the Catholic Church,
the lunch program at St. Mary’s Elementary, and anywhere
else she was needed. She loved spending time with her best friend,
Edith (who was more of a sister), a good competitive game of 45’s with
her family, baking, bird-watching, and playing with her two cats,
Binky and Baby. In her younger years, Jackie enjoyed hunting
along with the river with John, and of course she loved the weather,
an interest she passed on to all her children. Jackie will
forever be remembered for her love, laughter, generosity, and passion
for her family and community. She was a devoted mother and Grammie
who’s biggest joy was being around her family and helping others. They
say it takes a village to raise a child, but Jackie raised a village
and will be missed by all. Jackie is survived by her husband, John
Silver; her children, Jerome (Sarah), Robin, Gordon, Adam, Amber
(Allen), Jaide and Morgan (Natalie); her grandchildren, Mason,
Genevieve, and Katherine, her brother-in-law, Kenny (Janice) and
nieces Jennifer and Joyce. Jackie was predeceased by her parents,
Violet (Murray) and Frank Walsh; brother, William “Billy”
Walsh and her sister Genevieve “Jenny” MacIntosh. Visitation
will be held from 6:30 -9 p.m. Monday in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, St.
Mary’s Chapel, 34 Main St., Sherbrooke. Funeral service will
be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s Roman Catholic
Church, Sherbrooke with Rev. Alphonsus Iwuji officiating. Interment in
Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke. A reception will follow in the St.
Mary’s Lions Hall, Sherbrooke. Memorial donations may be
made to the SPCA or CARMA. Funeral arrangements are under the
dignified and compassionate care of G.W. Giffin Funeral Home Ltd, St.
Mary’s Chapel, Sherbrooke. On-line condolences may be made
at www.gwgiffin.com.
