Jacqueline Andrew Price, at the age of 80 years, passed away peacefully from this world on the morning of September 1st, 2017.
Jackie was predeceased by her husband Wilfred and is now lovingly remembered by her children Cheryl and Bruce, son-in-law Jason, grandsons Colin and Nickolas, sister Joyce and cousin Peter, nieces Pat, Lisa, Melinda, nephews David and Jessie, and many wonderful friends.
Born on June 12th, 1937 in Wallasey Lancashire England, after losing her parents at an early age, she grew up with her aunt.
She attended college and achieved her Teachers certificate, with minors in theater and art.
As a young woman, she immigrated to Canada and had a successful teaching career, working in Vanderhoof where she became active in the local curling club. Upon her return to Victoria, she taught at Glenlyon Norfolk School, and worked at Eaton’s, prior to marrying in 1962 to Wilfred Dauphin Price.
In the early 70’s she moved to Sidney, where she developed and ran the Sidney Cooperative Daycare, and was the co-founder of Jacwil Industries with her husband.
Jackie loved theater and the arts throughout her life and was always interested in exploring local artists work. She instilled in her children a love of nature and walks in the forest and by the seaside are remembered fondly.
Her love of animals could be keenly seen by all as in her later years she would take her little dog J.J. for long walks, and she knew most if not all of the dogs and cats that lived in her area. Additionally, she was known to have herds of deer come to visit her for the feed she would happily give them.
A strong and stoic, loving and caring, and a creative woman, her quick wit, and smile will be greatly missed, but she will always be held in our hearts.
On Saturday, September 30th, 2017 a Celebration of Life will be held at the Hidden Valley Park Clubhouse at 2500 Florence Lake Road. Refreshments to be served from 1 to 4 pm. Please come in comfortable colorful attire, and bring your memories to share.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the animal charity of your choice.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.
