Jack Groulx

It is with deep sadness and countless fond memories; we announce the peaceful passing of Jack on July 29, 2017 after a short courageous battle with cancer. He was born and raised on the farm, Hwy 112 known as Producers Dairy, owned by his parents. After the Holstein Herd was sold, the business moved to Pollock Ave, Jack continued to work for his father picking up cans of milk from Englehart to New Liskeard daily. In the late 50’s on that same property, Jack designed and operated Fairway Driving Range and miniature golf course. Where the dairy once stood, Jack and his wife Patricia built their home and raised Hereford beef cattle for three decades. Jack loved horses, they had been in his life from a young age as he was responsible for feeding the horses that pulled the dairy milk wagons and sleighs. Jack was six years old when he received his first pony “Queenie” from his father. He attended Holy Name Separate School, KLCVI and St. Michaels College for hockey tryouts where he was once cross checked by Tim Horton! In 1995, Jack retired from the Brewers Retail after 40 years. He was a Heart & Stroke Volunteer for 20 years. Jack was a kind gentleman always soft spoken with a very subtle sense of humour and ready to have a friendly chat. He leaves behind to mourn Patricia (née Hayward), his loving wife of 50 years, sister Loretta Kraft of Nobletown, ON, his brother-in-law Don Hayward and his wife Lin of Nepean, ON., plus lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents John B. and Marie Groulx (née Gauthier) and his siblings; brother Renée, Edmond, Joseph, Theodore Groulx, his sisters Irene (Dorzek), Jeanette (Nicholson), Molina (McNaueal), Beatrice (Goldman), Viola (Narduzzi). The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Ek, the North East Local Health Integration Network (CCAC), nurses and Dr. Chun, the Hospice Palliative Care team at Kirkland & District Hospital and Closing the Gap P.S.W. for all your compassion, attentiveness and considerations to us during Jack’s final days. All was deeply appreciated.
