Isabelle Anna Desjardins (nee van Varseveld) passed away peacefully at Rosewood Village on December 19, 2017. She was born in Trail, BC.
Isabelle joined the Airforce on December 28, 1942 in Calgary, Alberta. She was assigned for basic training to Rockcliff, Ontario. She was then posted to Lachine, Quebec, and later to Longue Point, Quebec. While there, Isabelle met her future husband, Tony Desjardins. She married Tony in 1947 and they resided in Montreal, Quebec. Isabelle helped raise three step-children and she and Tony had two more children of their own.
Tony passed away in January, 1982 and Isabelle continued living in Montreal until 2009 when she moved to Laval, Quebec. In January, 2013, Isabelle returned to Trail, BC.
She is survived by her daughter Lisé Desjardins (Gilles) Despatie of Laval, Quebec, her son Robert Desjardins of Kiamika, Quebec, and her sister Annette (Jim) Fitzgerald of Rossland, BC. Isabelle was predeceased by her parents, George and Anne van Varseveld and her brother, George van Varseveld.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Trail. Burial at Mountain View Cemetery to follow the Funeral Service. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kerby for her care of Isabelle over the last five years. Thank you to the staff at Rosewood Village for their care of Isabelle as well as Laurie and Bernice of Serendipity Support Services.
