ISAAK JANZEN
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of their beloved husband, father and opa Isaak Janzen on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Concordia Hospital.
Isaak will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years Anna; son Willy (Karren) Janzen, and their children, Christopher (Krista), Daniel and Julie. Isaak is survived by his brothers, John (Helen), Ernie (Elsie), Will (Joy) and sister in-law Frieda Janzen and by loving in-laws, nieces and nephews as well as many friends and relatives. Isaak was predeceased by both parents, his brother Henry and a brother in infancy.
Isaak was born on August 21, 1935 in Rosengart, Ukraine. In 1944, due to war and poverty, Isaak and his family immigrated to Germany. In 1947 his family moved to Argentina, South America and then to Chaco, Paraguay. There his family settled in the Colony Neuland in Einlage where Isaak learned how to be a blacksmith. In 1956 Isaak and his family came to Winnipeg. Isaak first met the love of his life Anna in Paraguay. They met again in Winnipeg and were married in 1961. Isaak worked for Manitoba Bridge almost from the time that he arrived in Winnipeg until he retired. Isaak loved getting together with family and friends. Isaak enjoyed his coffee time with his friends at the Nor Villa and at Tim Hortons. Isaak also enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing, tending to his garden, trips to Hawaii and Mexico. Isaak was baptized in Paraguay upon the confession of his faith and later transferred his membership to the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing prior to the service at the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Rd. Interment at Green Acres following the reception at the church.
