Irene Kula

Irene Kula passed away peacefully at the Ian Anderson House in Oakville Ontario on July 8, 2017, in her 88th year. Mom is survived by her son Dwayne of Nashua New Hampshire, and her son Leonard (Colleen) and grandchildren Allison and Ryan of Oakville. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard Sr. in 1992.
Mom was born in Winnipeg – one of 7 children of Stanley and Fanny Sokoloski – and lived there until she and dad married in 1960. They started married life in Montreal where Leonard and Dwayne were born before moving to Calgary in 1969. Mom lived with Dad in Calgary until he passed away, then lived on her own in Calgary until she moved to Oakville in October 2016.
Mom loved Calgary, and considered it to be her home. After dad passed away, she embarked upon a new life and friendships centred on St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, where she spent many happy hours.
For those who knew mom, she would appreciate it if you remembered her in your prayers. Since mom was new to Oakville, she did not wish to have a service or memorial. Donations to Ian Anderson House in Oakville in mom’s name are appreciated. A book of condolences is available on the Ward Funeral Home website.
