Knox; Barbara Irene (nee McDonald)
Peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Errinrung Nursing Home in Thornbury, formerly of Duncan in her 84th year. Irene is the beloved wife of the late Lloyd Wellington Knox. Born in St. Vincent Township on April 16, 1934 to the late John and Pearl McDonald. Dear sister of Helen(Al) Dales, Alex(June) McDonald, David(Joan) McDonald and sister in-law of Muriel Hewgill. Loving aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She is predeceased by sister Yvonne Wilson Walsworth(Jim Wilson and Bob Walsworth), brother Murray(Armol), sister in-law Hazel McNichol(Scottie), brother in-law Nobel Knox(Joan McBean) and Floyd Hewgill.
Irene was born in St. Vincent Township but moved to Collingwood Township as a teenage and lived there for the rest of her life. She was a teacher for over 30 years in various schools in the township. She will always be remembered as generous in nature and devoted to her family, friends and community.
A celebration of Irene’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Kolapore Calvary Church of the Nazarene at 11:00am. Cremation and interment with Lloyd at the Clarksburg Union Cemetery have taken place. In memory of Irene, memorial contributions to the Parkinson’s Society, Meaford Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated.
