HORROCKS Michael - July 8

It is with great sadness that we report Michael Horrocks passed away in Devon, AB at the age of 84 years.
Born in Manchester, England, son of two doctors, Mike served in the Royal Air Force 1950 – 1952. Mike immigrated to Canada in 1954 and not long after found the love of his life – Marion Heaps. Mike and Marion were married in 1957 and lived a great life until they both lost the battle with Alzheimer’s. Mike and Marion had 4 children, 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many other family members and even more friends.
In 1966 Michael Horrocks became the first resident lawyer in Fort McMurray and was appointed a Provincial Judge in 1978 and served until 2002. His retirement was short-lived, and he was immediately reappointed to the Edmonton region and continued as an extra court Judge until 2011. Mike was an active member of the community, serving on the Public School Board, Rotary Club (President and District Governor), President of the Nordic Ski Club and the Gregoire Lake Sailing Club, as well as the President of the Provincial Judges Association.
A Celebration of Life for Mike will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the River of Hope Church, 2 Saskatchewan Drive W, Devon, AB. Please join us as we cherish and share our memories of Mike.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage everyone to raise a glass and share a fun memory with a friend or family member – you never know how long you have either the loved one or the memory.
