Obituary for Hazel Louise Isfeld
It is with profound regret that the family of Hazel “Bobbi” Isfeld announces the passing of our dear matriarch on December 14, 2017 in Gimli, Manitoba.
She is remembered fondly by her children, Richard(Janet), Rodney(Pam), Judith(James) and Brent(Shirley), as well as by her loving grandchildren Skipper, Grant, Lisa, Jason, Tyna, Rodine, Chris, Brett, Jaxon, Caleb, Jeff, Lindsay, Leith, Chad, and Brittany. Also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her zest for life and gift of love will continue to guide and comfort us. She is predeceased by her husband Agust (Gus) and daughter Olyna Joan (Joni).
Born in High Point, Saskatchewan, August 19, 1920, Bobbi spent her early years on farms in Rural Manitoba and Saskatchewan. She attended school in Winnipeg MB, eventually settling in Sandy Hook, where she met and married Gus on June 3, 1939. For the rest of her life she remained in Sandy Hook, assisting her husband in Lake Winnipeg’s commercial fishing industry until he passed in 2001. Her effervescent personality and wit made her a beloved fixture of her community. Bobbi was an accomplished seamstress and crafter and her creativity serves still to inspire us. She was a masterful storyteller and her history and charm will live on as we continue to share her tales with generations to come.
The family would like to recognize the efforts of our beloved brother and uncle, Rodney for his steadfast commitment to Bobbi’s care, comfort and companionship in the twilight of her life. Also deserving of our gratitude is the staff and management of Betel Home Gimli for their loving dedication to Mom/Nana’s wellbeing for these past few years.
