Eleanor Wright
Eleanor was born in Eganville on February 18, 1928 to William Alvin Mooney & Ethel Albertina Mooney (Patterson).
She graduated from the Toronto Western Hospital in 1950 and she worked as a Registered Nurse for 5 years. She then resumed violin study at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and graduated with an A.R.C.T. (Violin Teacher’s Diploma). Following this, she graduated from York University in Toronto with a B.A. (honours) in Fine Arts (Art History). She taught violin and music theory for 30 years in Toronto and later in Eganville.
She was married to Bill Wright a Metallurgical Engineer, who deceased her by 4 years. She is survived by her sister, Adele Thomsen (Mooney) and husband Dr. Rex Thomsen and nephews Stephen Thomsen & Graham Thomsen and their families.
She has written 3 books, “Joe Lake”, “The Golden Lake Story”, and “Trailblazers of Algonquin Park”. Eleanor was a keen horticulturalist and loved her garden.
Special thanks to Dr. O’Connor of Pembroke Regional Hospital and the Nursing Staff on 3rd Medical Floor. Thanks to Lisa & Leslie who were with Eleanor when she passed away. Many thanks to the members of the United Church who cared for her in Eganville. Special thanks to Brenda Schruder for her excellent care.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2017 at Melville United Church at 11am. A luncheon, at Melville United church hall will follow the interment of ashes.
