Obituary Overview
Lovingly Remembered
On November 4, 2017, Harvey Marion of Sherwood Park, passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 62 years, surrounded by his loving family. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Randi (née Magneson), and three children RaeLene, Chelsie (Steve Schmidt) and Franklin. He will be greatly missed by his siblings Anita, sister-in-law Emilie, Marie (Raymond), Roger (Leah), Denise (Ben), Ronnie (Carol), Madeleine, Johnny (Glenna), numerous nieces and nephews, friends, and business associates. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Marie Marion, his brother Gerald, and his mother and father-in-law Eileen and Wilmer Magneson.
Harvey was born in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba, the youngest of nine siblings. He left Manitoba at the age of 18 and worked alongside his brothers in Vancouver and Edmonton. During this time, he tried his hand at welding, driving long haul trucks into the US, hauling concrete, and dispatching. When he would drive around with his kids, Harvey could tell them every spot where he poured concrete foundation. He eventually started a small auto wrecking and storage business in Edmonton. Harvey met his wife Randi in 1981, and they were married in 1985. He loved collecting antiques and memorabilia, but in particular loved buying and selling classic cars. Anyone who knew him also knew his love for country music started at an early age and only grew as he started performing in his 30’s. In later years, he discovered a new passion as an auctioneer; in addition to working regular car sales, he volunteered his time auctioneering at charity fundraisers. Harvey enjoyed helping others, whether it was assisting them with their car troubles or simply drawing them a map. He was also an avid bargain hunter and gleefully told people about deals and discounts he came across, whether it was senior priced meals, free draws, free coffee, or bacon on sale. Harvey loved telling stories and making people laugh. He had an exuberance for life which he shared with all who knew him.
Harvey was a proud father who supported his children in all their endeavours. He and Randi’s 32 years of marriage was a true testament to the power of their friendship, love, and commitment. This only strengthened during his recent decline in health. He was cared for to the very end at home by his loving wife and children.
The family would like to thank all those who have extended their condolences, thoughts, and prayers from near and afar. They would like to acknowledge all those who came to visit Harvey in his final months, with special recognition to his brother Ronnie for his outstanding acts of service in the last year. Finally, they would also like to thank Alberta Health Services (Sherwood Park) Home Care, We Care Home Health Services, and the Cross Cancer Institute.
A celebration of Harvey’s life will be held on Monday, November 13th @ 2 pm at Glenwood Funeral Home, south of Wye Road on Range Road 232, Sherwood Park. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so the hour prior to the service.
Donations, if you so wish, can be made in Harvey’s memory to the Alberta Cancer Foundation at www.albertacancerfoundation.ca
