Harold Vernon Vern Alcock – 2017

Alcock, Vern
September 11th 1941 – March 15th 2017
Vern passed away in Olds Hospital peacefully after fighting a courageous battle with Cancer for over 2 years. He is lovingly remembered and sorely missed by his wife Norma of 53 years; his daughter Jennifer (Warren) Boyd; his son Andrew (Jill); grandchildren Trace, Thea, Amelia, and Lowen; brother Fred Alcock of Victoria, BC. Vern had a varied career of owning and operating businesses with Norma such as Gemini Services, the BeeHive, Merit Hardware, Merit Appliances, etc. but is most remembered for the many homes he painted in Olds and area over the past 40 years. Vern was an active member in various service clubs and organizations. He had an infectious personality and those who worked or did business with him enjoyed his company. He was always very involved with his family and friends and was so proud of his children and grandchildren. Vern was a nature lover and an animal magnet. All the birds in southeast Olds knew where the all you can eat buffet was and he never met a dog he didn’t like. A Celebration of Vern’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105, Olds on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 2pm. Vern’s family would like all who knew him to please attend and celebrate with us. Memorial tributes may be made directly to the Medicine River Wildlife Centre (403-728-3467 www.medicineriverwildlifecentre.ca ) or charity of choice. Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Olds entrusted with arrangements. 403-507-8610 www.heartlandfuneralservices.com
